Cascading Hearts: the Night's Embrace.

Upon the soiled sidewalks of forsaken lanes,

A handful of emotional tremors linger in my thoughts.

I've traced the very path you once did tread,

For reasons long forgotten and unsought.

My footsteps waltz in tune with elusive dreams,

Yet the breath in my lungs foundered, inadequate.

Even the radiance of my soul held no value that night,

I closed my eyes, envisioning your visage, contemplative.

Does time hold sway on those benches where you reside?

This moment, even the allure of her gaze seems futile.

Within, my heart festers with a venomous tide,

"Do you savor it so?" I inquire with a bitter smile.

I set forth in a desperate flight,

An unrelenting nerve, haunting minutes like a rhyme,

Infinite nightfall obscuring the light,

Do I yearn for oblivion in this moment's prime?

An anguish clutches my chest when I cease,

A sinister chuckle emerges as blood spills from my core.

The grubby sidewalks of desolation, they never cease,

Yet, in the dawn's first rays, our hearts did once more adore.

When the morn unfurls its tender grace,

I'm untouched by the aches that used to bind.

I yearn for the relentless passage of time's embrace,

All the songs I sang that fateful eve, to oblivion confined.

I wish for you to hear them, sweet and undefined.
